Hutchco’s LaserCoater post-coat system is a first for New Zealand, expanding access to 1mm zero-joint edging across selected PVC, ABS and veneer décors.

Laser Coated edging is created by applying a precisely engineered, colour-matched functional polymer layer to selected stocked edging, preparing it for compatible laser, hot-air and NIR bonding.

The result is a wider décor range for zero-joint processing, helping deliver clean, low-visibility joins without traditional glue pots, EVA or PUR adhesive application.

Availability

On-demand conversion of stocked Proadec edging into laser-compatible tape expands the range to 110 décors and counting.

How it works:
Like co-extruded Prolaser, a colour-matched functional polymer layer is added standard PVC & ASB edging.

Post-applied layer activates under heat for a permanent zero-joint bond on Laser, Hyfuse, Hot-Air & NIR edgebanders

Why does Hutchco offer Laser Coated edging?

Because not every décor is available as factory-produced laser edging. Laser Coated edging allows Hutchco to expand the available 1mm zero-joint décor range by converting stocked Proadec and Tekton veneer edging for compatible zero-joint processing through the LaserCoater post-coat system.

What machines is it compatible with?

Laser Coated edging has been tested on machines using laser, Hyfuse, hot-air, and NIR edgebanding systems.Testing and compatibility has been confirmed on selected systems, with final calibration depending on the machine, material and application.

How does Laser Coated edging compare with Coextruded PP Laser edging?

Both are designed for compatible zero-joint processing. Coextruded PP Laser edging is produced with an integrated functional bonding layer. Laser Coated edging is created by applying a colour-matched polymer layer to selected stocked edging through the LaserCoater post-coat system. In practical testing, Laser Coated edging has achieved a finish and bond performance close to Coextruded PP Laser edging, with machine calibration required for the specific material and application.

Which décors can be converted to Laser Coated edging?

Selected stocked 1mm Proadec and Tekton veneer edging can be converted for compatible zero-joint processing where a suitable colour-matched polymer layer is available.
